Read Courage to Grow by Laura Sandefer. Then, read deeply our website, listen to all the videos, and scan the blogs you find linked there. These are rich resources with lots of insights into the Acton Academy model and method of learning. You will gain a vision of our work and the fundamentals of our learner-driven community.

As Apprentice Guide you will be working directly with our learners, encouraging them on their Hero’s Journeys, and diving deeply into learning about the Acton method. This will require you to carefully observe our learning environments and to read many books throughout the year. You will work under our Lead Guide who will provide you with guidance as well as direct and honest feedback throughout your apprenticeship.

This position gives you the chance to grow as an individual, and to be part of something truly transformative. It comes with a great deal of trust, responsibility, and exciting challenges.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the starting age?

Our Elementary Studio begins at 6 years old by September 1st.

Do we visit the studio?

In February 7 months before you'd enroll, your family may be invited for a studio visit. For older ages, we have rolling admissions as space allows, with visits scheduled as needed.

When will we know if we're accepted?

Final decisions will be sent by March 15th of the year you'd enroll for 6 year olds, and on a rolling basis for others.

If I am applying for several children, does each child need a separate audition?

Yes, we consider each child a genius on a Hero’s Journey, so we ask each to audition separately.
